{"id":1161966,"date":"2026-02-13T14:43:49","date_gmt":"2026-02-13T09:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.app.com.pk\/?p=1161966"},"modified":"2026-02-13T14:43:49","modified_gmt":"2026-02-13T09:43:49","slug":"balochistan-getting-higher-psdp-share-m-8-progress-under-way-senate-told","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.app.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/02\/13\/balochistan-getting-higher-psdp-share-m-8-progress-under-way-senate-told\/","title":{"rendered":"Balochistan getting higher PSDP share; M-8 progress under way, Senate told"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP):Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the Senate on Friday that Balochistan remained a foremost priority for the federal government and was receiving proportionately higher development allocations under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Responding to a question by Senator Jan Muhammad on progress of the M-8 motorway, the minister said the approximately 890-kilometre highway \u2014 part of the western alignment of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) \u2014 was aimed at improving connectivity and economic activity in Balochistan.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He said several sections of the motorway had already been completed and were operational, while the remaining stretches, including the Hoshab\u2013Awaran and Awaran\u2013Naal sections, were under construction.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The government is targeting completion of the remaining 314 kilometres by December 2026, subject to availability of funds and improvement in the security situation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The minister said work on the project had faced delays due to security challenges, restricted working hours and insufficient releases of development funds.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He added that concerns regarding the condition or maintenance of certain road segments could be taken up with the relevant authorities.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Reaffirming the government\u2019s development focus, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that when development spending was assessed relative to population, Balochistan was receiving a higher PSDP allocation than Punjab.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>He said the government remained committed to improving infrastructure, connectivity and economic opportunities in the province.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, Feb 13 (APP):Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry told the Senate on Friday that Balochistan remained a foremost priority for the federal government and was receiving proportionately higher development allocations under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
