{"id":1160273,"date":"2026-02-10T19:48:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T14:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.app.com.pk\/?p=1160273"},"modified":"2026-02-10T19:48:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T14:48:22","slug":"intl-conference-held-at-pu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.app.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/02\/10\/intl-conference-held-at-pu\/","title":{"rendered":"Int&#8217;l conference held at PU"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">LAHORE, Feb 10 (APP): An International Conference titled \u201cBridging Horizons: Celebrating Pakistan\u2013China Deep-Rooted Friendship\u201d was held at University of the Punjab here on Tuesday.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to a press release issued here, the conference was jointly organized by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of the Punjab, Lahore, in collaboration with the Institute for a Community with Shared Future (ICSF), Communication University of China (CUC), Beijing, and the Embassy of the People\u2019s Republic of China to Pakistan.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conference aimed to celebrate the longstanding and time-tested friendship between Pakistan and China while promoting academic dialogue, people-to-people connectivity, and scholarly engagement across the political, economic, cultural, and strategic dimensions of bilateral relations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conference featured four sessions, each designed to highlight various aspects of Pakistan\u2013China cooperation and to acknowledge the outstanding academic and creative contributions of participating students.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The opening remarks were delivered by Prof Dr Mahboob Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of the Punjab, Lahore, who highlighted the importance of academic platforms in strengthening Pakistan\u2013China relations through dialogue, research collaboration, and cultural exchange.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The welcome remarks were delivered by Mr Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), Islamabad.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">He emphasized the role of youth engagement, research-based initiatives, and people-to-people connectivity in advancing the vision of a community with a shared future between Pakistan and China.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">An online address was delivered by Professor Li Huailiang, Dean, Institute for a Community with Shared Future (ICSF), Communication University of China (CUC), Beijing.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In his remarks, he reaffirmed China\u2019s commitment to deepening academic cooperation with Pakistan and stressed the importance of intellectual collaboration in reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two countries.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Distinguished speakers and their thematic contributions included:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hi-Tech Mining Associates (HTMA) Limited CEO Haris Naeem spoke on Pakistan\u2013China geological cooperation and mapping resources for sustainable development.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Capital Smart Innovations, Chief Operating Officer Zeeshan Qureshi presented insights on Digital Silk Road 2.0 and the role of artificial intelligence and smart technologies in<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pakistan\u2013China cooperation. University of the Punjab, Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, highlighted the importance of strengthening academic collaboration and international partnerships between Pakistan and China.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of Management and Technology, Lahore Chairperson Dr Muhammad Usman Askari discussed the geopolitics of Pakistan\u2013China relations in a multipolar world.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">University of Lahore, School of Integrated Social Sciences Head of Department Dr Kishwar Munir examined the South Asian security complex and its implications for Pakistan\u2013China relations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Tahir Mumtaz Awan, Director, Pakistan Institute for China Studies (PICS), and Host Director, Confucius Institute, University of Sargodha, spoke on institutionalizing civilizational exchange through Confucius Institutes to strengthen Pakistan\u2013China friendship.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">University of Punjab, Lahore, Career Counselling and Placement Centre, Associate Professor and Director Fouzia Hadi Ali highlighted<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pakistan\u2013China cooperation for regional integration and connectivity.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Brigadier Retired Mansoor Saeed, Senior Vice President, Pakistan\u2013China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI), discussed the evolution of Pakistan\u2013China economic relations at 75 from diplomacy to development.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr Noor Ullah, Manager Marketing, Jang Group of Companies, emphasized the role of journalism and media as strategic stakeholders in Pakistan\u2013China relations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">key highlight of the conference was the inauguration of the poster competition on the theme \u201cPakistan\u2013China Friendship.\u201d The competition encouraged students to creatively express their understanding of the historical, cultural, and strategic dimensions of Pakistan\u2013China relations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Students from diverse academic backgrounds actively participated by presenting visually engaging and intellectually rich posters reflecting themes of friendship, cooperation, development, and a shared future.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 1st and 2nd sessions concluded with interactive question-and-answer segments, followed by the distribution of souvenirs to the keynote speakers in appreciation of their valuable contributions.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sessions 3 and 4 were conducted simultaneously, providing a platform for focused discussions on emerging challenges, policy perspectives, and future opportunities in Pakistan\u2013China relations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each session featured presentations by four selected students based on outstanding research articles.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Session 3 was chaired by Ms. Iqra Javaid, Lecturer, School of Integrated Social Sciences, University of Lahore, and co-chaired and moderated by Areeba, Department of History and Pakistan Studies, University of the Punjab, Lahore.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dr Muhammd Naeem Khan, University of the Punjab, Lahore, presented on Pakistan\u2013China friendship with a focus on challenges and opportunities.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rai Muhammad Usman, Country Director Pakistan, World Agriculture Forum, spoke on sustainable agriculture and climate resilience through Pakistan\u2013China collaboration.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Session 4 was chaired by Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), and co-chaired and moderated by Zainab Sohail, PRCCSF Fellow.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wajahat Ali, Director Community Engagement Lahore and Islamabad, Center for Alternative Perspectives (CAP), discussed youth as custodians of Pakistan\u2013China friendship for the next twenty-five years.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Khadija Mubarik, Chief Executive Officer, M.A. Chaudhari and Company Chartered Accountants, spoke on financial transparency and risk management in cross-border Pakistan\u2013China projects.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In both sessions, students showcased their research, insights, and perspectives on Pakistan\u2013China relations, engaging the audience through thoughtful and well-articulated presentations.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Both sessions concluded with the announcement of the winners of the speech competition, followed by the distribution of souvenirs to the session chairs, co-chairs, and winning students in recognition of their contributions.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conference witnessed the participation of nearly 500 participants, reflecting strong academic enthusiasm and a
