ISLAMABAD, Feb 10 (APP): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather in most parts of the country on Wednesday.
\nWhile very cold and partly cloudy conditions are expected in hilly areas, including Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
\nAccording to the PMD, Islamabad and its surrounding areas will experience cold and dry weather.
\nSimilar conditions are likely to prevail across most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with upper districts expected to remain very cold and partly cloudy.
\nPunjab will also witness cold and dry weather in most areas, while Murree, Galiyat and adjoining regions are likely to remain very cold and dry.
\nIn Sindh, mainly dry weather is anticipated, whereas most parts of Balochistan will experience cold and dry conditions, with very cold weather during morning and night in the northern districts.
\nKashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to remain very cold with partly cloudy skies.
\nThe Met Office reported that during the past 24 hours, rain accompanied by snowfall over the hills occurred in upper Punjab, Islamabad, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while cold and partly cloudy weather prevailed in other parts of the country.
\nSignificant rainfall was recorded in Muzaffarabad, where 32 mm was measured at the airport, followed by 15 mm in Garhi Dupatta and 11 mm in Rawalakot.
\nIn Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kakul received 20 mm, Pattan 17 mm and Balakot 16 mm of rain, while Murree recorded 15 mm. Several areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi also received moderate rainfall.
\nSnowfall of three inches was recorded in Malam Jabba, while Kalam and Murree received around one inch each.
\nThe lowest minimum temperature recorded was -09 degrees Celsius in Leh, followed by minus seven in Astore and -05 in Kalam. Skardu, Gupis and Malam Jabba recorded minus three degrees Celsius.
\nMeanwhile, the maximum temperatures are expected to range between 17 degrees Celsius in Islamabad and Quetta, 23 in Lahore and Faisalabad, 24 in Multan, and 29 in Karachi, while colder conditions will persist in northern regions including Murree, Skardu and Gilgit.
\nThe Meteorological Department has advised citizens, particularly those in mountainous regions, to take precautionary measures against severe cold and possible slippery conditions due to snowfall.<\/p>\n
