ISLAMABAD, Feb 03 (APP):Wapda has completed the feasibility study of the Shahdara Dam project and shared the report with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), marking a key step towards strengthening Islamabad\u2019s water supply.<\/div>\n

The development was shared during a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Tuesday which was attended by senior CDA officials and representatives of Islamabad Water.<\/div>\n

Officials told the meeting that the feasibility report includes preliminary estimates for land acquisition, water conveyance infrastructure, a water treatment plant and other allied components.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The proposed dam is planned over an area of about 25 acres and is expected to supply up to 10 million gallons of water per day to the federal capital.<\/div>\n

According to the briefing, work on the detailed design will start immediately following the completion of the feasibility phase, while the PC-I for the project will be submitted for approval after its preparation.<\/div>\n

Chairman Randhawa directed that a formal land survey be conducted by SUPARCO before the acquisition process begins, stressing that land-related matters should be settled transparently and in accordance with the law.<\/div>\n

He also instructed that the feasibility report and detailed design be presented to the committee constituted to resolve water issues of the twin cities for approval.<\/div>\n

The meeting also reviewed progress on the Dotara Dam project, with officials informing that work on its feasibility study is currently under way.<\/div>\n

The chairman said the projects would play an important role in addressing Islamabad\u2019s growing water demand, adding that ensuring uninterrupted water supply in the federal capital remained among the CDA\u2019s top priorities.<\/div>\n
