LAHORE, Jan 28 (APP):Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) here Wednesday highlighted the transformation underway in China\u2019s cosmetics industry, noting that the sector is rapidly shifting\u00a0from a marketing and channel driven model to one centered on brand building, technological\u00a0innovation, consumer experience, and cross-cultural value communication.<\/div>\n
The Chamber emphasized that these developments open new avenues for Pakistan\u2013China<\/div>\n
cooperation under the broader framework of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).<\/div>\n
PCJCCI President Nazir Hussain stated that China\u2019s experience offers valuable strategic lessons\u00a0for Pakistani businesses aspiring to enter high-value consumer markets. The core competitiveness\u00a0of China\u2019s cosmetics industry is no longer confined to products or distribution channels. It is increasingly driven by strong brand narratives, systematic research, and technological advancement.<\/div>\n
Under the CPEC, Pakistan has an opportunity to align its emerging consumer industries with China\u2019s innovation-led growth model and move toward value-added exports, he maintained.<\/div>\n
The joint chamber’s Senior Vice President Brig. (Retd) Mansoor Saeed Sheikh noted that the shift in China\u2019s cosmetics industry from short-term marketing to technology and experience driven growth aligns closely with the objectives of CPEC\u2019s second phase. The transition toward systematic capability building reflects the maturity of China\u2019s consumer industries. CPEC provides a strategic platform for Pakistan to collaborate in research and development, packaging innovation, digital branding, and ESG-driven manufacturing, ensuring sustainable and competitive participation in global value chains.<\/div>\n
Vice President Zafar Iqbal emphasized that CPEC\u2019s next phase, which focuses on industrial cooperation, special economic zones, and export-oriented manufacturing, can serve as a catalyst for developing Pakistan\u2019s cosmetics and personal care sector. Pakistan has strong potential in herbal, organic, halal, and natural cosmetic products. By leveraging CPEC linked industrial zones, technology transfer, and joint ventures with Chinese partners, Pakistani enterprises can enhance product quality, branding, and compliance with international standards, enabling greater access to the Chinese market.<\/div>\n
Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif stressed the role of institutional collaboration, policy coordination, and research-based planning in maximizing CPEC\u2019s impact on emerging sectors. The increasing emphasis on structured research, industry think-tanks, and cross-sector collaboration highlights the importance of informed policymaking. PCJCCI remains committed to facilitating B2B linkages, knowledge exchange, and investment partnerships between Pakistani and Chinese stakeholders under CPEC to support long-term industrial development.<\/div>\n
Industry analysis indicates that China\u2019s cosmetics sector is advancing from rapid market expansion to a stage characterized by \u2018systematic capability output, while the globalization of Chinese brands is entering a long-term phase supported by technological innovation and foundational research.<\/div>\n
PCJCCI believes that integrating Pakistan\u2019s cosmetics and personal care sector into CPEC\u2019s industrial cooperation framework can contribute to export diversification, job creation, value addition, and stronger people-to-people and commercial ties between Pakistan and China.<\/div>\n
