ISLAMABAD, Jan 24 (APP):The Islamabad administration on Saturday reviewed preparations for the holy month of Ramadan, with Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa directing officials to ensure the availability of quality food items at official rates and to provide maximum relief to citizens.<\/div>\n

The meeting, attended by Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, Chief Officer MCI Dr Anam Fatima and senior officers of the district administration and CDA, was told that around seven Ramadan bazaars would be set up across the federal capital, while three weekly bazaars would also be converted into Ramadan bazaars.<\/div>\n

Officials said additional Ramadan bazaars would be established at Bahara Kahu, Pakistan Town along the Islamabad Expressway and in Tarnol, with the aim of providing essential commodities to the public at affordable prices.<\/div>\n

It was further briefed that the bazaars would include cash-and-carry outlets as well as stalls of various companies, while a \u201cChand Bazaar\u201d would be organised during the last 10 days of Ramadan ahead of Eidul Fitr.<\/div>\n

Chairing the meeting, Randhawa directed that all Ramadan bazaars be made cashless to facilitate digital payments.<\/div>\n

He also instructed that special attention be paid to cleanliness and beautification, and that all construction and repair work at the sites be completed before the start of Ramadan.<\/div>\n

He asked assistant commissioners and magistrates to regularly visit bazaars and markets to monitor arrangements and ensure price control.<\/div>\n

The CDA chairman said special stalls should also be allocated for the sale of organic items, adding that no compromise would be made on the quality of food items.<\/div>\n

He directed officials to put in place an effective and prompt complaint redressal mechanism for consumers.<\/div>\n

The meeting was also informed that maintenance and security arrangements for all Auqaf mosques and imambargahs would be completed before Ramadan.<\/div>\n

Special lighting arrangements would be made at Faisal Mosque and other mosques.<\/div>\n

Randhawa said various healthy activities and sports events should also be organised at the city\u2019s sports grounds during Ramadan, adding that the overall objective was to provide the best possible facilities to citizens during the holy month.<\/div>\n
