NARA, Japan, Jan 14 (Kyodo\/APP): Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Wednesday toured Horyuji, a World Heritage Buddhist temple in the western Japan prefecture of Nara, to deepen their personal ties.<\/p>\n

The visit to the temple complex, home to the world’s oldest surviving wooden structure said to date to 607, caps off the latest reciprocal visit between the two leaders.<\/p>\n

The complex uses building techniques brought via the Korean Peninsula and houses artworks influenced by Korea.<\/p>\n

Takaichi and Lee were given explanations of the complex’s Kondo Main Hall and its Five-storied Pagoda.<\/p>\n

The tour comes after the leaders held talks Tuesday in Takaichi’s home prefecture. In a sign that ties are thawing after reaching their worst level in decades in recent years, they agreed to further bilateral economic security cooperation and pursue more reciprocal visits.<\/p>\n
