{"id":1145028,"date":"2026-01-12T22:19:04","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T17:19:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.app.com.pk\/?p=1145028"},"modified":"2026-01-12T22:19:04","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T17:19:04","slug":"ndma-slashes-snowfall-rumors-no-snow-in-the-plains-experts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.app.com.pk\/index.php\/2026\/01\/12\/ndma-slashes-snowfall-rumors-no-snow-in-the-plains-experts\/","title":{"rendered":"NDMA slashes snowfall rumors: no snow in the plains: Experts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>ISLAMABAD, Jan 12 (APP):Experts at the NDMA\u2019s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) on Monday categorically rejected reports about snowfall in the plains as irresponsible and baseless.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The NEOC has forecast a rise in cold intensity during the last 15 days of January, resulting in snowfall only in mountainous regions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0A westerly weather system entering the country from January 18 is likely to bring snowfall to upper areas of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The system is also expected to cause rain in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, western Balochistan, and the Potohar region.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>For the next three to four days, weather in most parts of the country is likely to remain cold and dry, with a normal increase in cold intensity.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>During this period, a strong cold wave and dense fog are expected to intensify in the plains of Punjab and Sindh.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Due to southward-moving Siberian winds, temperatures are likely to drop further, triggering a severe cold wave in northern parts of Pakistan.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is issuing advance alerts and instructions to relevant departments regarding possible risks and weather conditions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>For verified weather updates, potential risks, and safety guidelines, the public has been advised to use the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert mobile app.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD, Jan 12 (APP):Experts at the NDMA\u2019s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) on Monday categorically rejected reports about snowfall in the plains as irresponsible and baseless.
