ISLAMABAD, Jan 06 (APP):A delegation of officers from the 45th Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) of the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Peshawar, visited the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Headquarters for field research to gain first-hand insight into the organization\u2019s mandate, operations, and key reform initiatives.<\/div>\n

The delegation, comprising 35 officers from various government departments, was welcomed by Secretary BISP, Amer Ali Ahmad, who briefed them on the programme\u2019s major achievements and ongoing reforms.<\/div>\n

During the briefing, the Secretary highlighted the launch of Social Protection Wallets for 10 million deserving women, along with the provision of free SIM cards, describing it as one of the largest social protection transformations in Pakistan\u2019s history.<\/div>\n

He informed the participants that approximately 5.6 million free SIMs have already been distributed nationwide to facilitate secure, transparent, and convenient digital payments under the Prime Minister\u2019s cashless initiative.<\/div>\n

Amer Ali Ahmad stated that BISP supports the poorest households living below the poverty line, with women as primary beneficiaries, aiming to promote financial inclusion, mobility, and economic empowerment.<\/div>\n

He also underscored the positive impact of flagship initiatives including Benazir Nashonuma and Benazir Taleemi Wazaif programmes.<\/div>\n

Highlighting the institutional strength of BISP, the Secretary noted that the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) is the backbone of the programme, with a comprehensive database covering 38.7 million households across the country.<\/div>\n

The officers were further briefed on ongoing and upcoming reforms, including the new payment model, Mobile Registration Vehicles (MRVs), Digital Financial Literacy Training (DFLT), Integrated Grievance Management System (IGMS), Hybrid Service Provision Strategy (HSPS) and future plans such as the Benazir Hunarmand Programme.<\/div>\n

An interactive question-and-answer session followed, during which the visiting officers appreciated BISP\u2019s transformative role in strengthening social protection, enhancing financial inclusion, and promoting women\u2019s empowerment.<\/div>\n
