RAWALPINDI, Jan 03 (APP):Special Secretary Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering (HUD & PHED), Waqar Azim, visited the Rawal Lake Water Filtration Plant here on Saturday.<\/div>\n
Managing Director WASA Rawalpindi briefed him on the plant\u2019s operational status and the ongoing rehabilitation works under the DREAMS-I project.<\/div>\n
During the visit, it was informed that around 20 per cent of the physical work under the DREAMS-I project has been completed so far.<\/div>\n
Key completed activities include initial civil works, inspection and partial replacement of old mechanical equipment, preliminary electrical upgradation, and preparatory work for the installation of modern filtration and treatment systems. The project aims to significantly enhance the plant\u2019s capacity, efficiency, and reliability, ensuring improved quality and uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to the residents of Rawalpindi.<\/div>\n
The Special Secretary reviewed the progress in detail and expressed satisfaction over the commencement of rehabilitation work. However, he directed the project team and contractors to further accelerate the pace of construction and installation so that the project could be completed ahead of the stipulated timeline.<\/div>\n
Issuing clear instructions, Mr Waqar Azim stressed strict adherence to approved quality standards and technical specifications. He also directed the provision of additional resources and manpower to avoid any possible delays, emphasized close supervision and effective coordination among WASA, consultants, and contractors, and ordered the immediate resolution of administrative and technical bottlenecks to keep the project on schedule.<\/div>\n
He underlined that timely completion of the DREAMS-I project is crucial for strengthening Rawalpindi\u2019s water supply system, particularly in view of increasing demand and water scarcity. Early completion of the project will lead to improved water quality, enhanced filtration capacity, reduced operational issues, and a more reliable supply of safe drinking water for the city\u2019s residents.<\/div>\n
The Special Secretary reaffirmed the Punjab government\u2019s strong commitment to improving urban water infrastructure and directed WASA Rawalpindi to complete the DREAMS-I project efficiently, transparently, and within the approved scope so that its benefits could reach the public at the earliest.<\/div>\n
