PESHAWAR, Jan 02 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa food safety and halal food authority carried out 92,312 inspections across the province at various food-related businesses.<\/div>\n

As many as 413,888 kilograms and liters of substandard and hazardous food items were destroyed. These included fake beverages, adulterated milk, substandard meat, spices, cooking oil, ghee, pops, chips, and bakery items, says a press release here.<\/div>\n

Due to violations of hygiene standards, 7,685 improvement notices were issued, while 142 food businesses sealed for serious violations.<\/div>\n

According to the report, to improve food-related businesses, 89 training sessions and 1,167 awareness sessions were also conducted.<\/div>\n

During 2025, the authority issued and renewed 40,932 licenses, while 1,318 different food products were formally registered. An income of 253.8 million rupees was generated through product registration, licensing fees, and fines.<\/div>\n

The report said that during inspections, all types of businesses were checked, including grocery stores, bakeries, hotels, restaurants, dairy shops, meat shops, fruit and vegetable shops, fast-food outlets, factories, and distribution points.<\/div>\n

In Pabbi, Nowshera, and the Hattar Industrial Zone in Haripur, three major factories involved in the production of fake beverages and adulterated milk were shut down, and machinery worth millions of rupees was confiscated.<\/div>\n

As many as 2,813 food samples were tested, out of which 2,074 found satisfactory, while 738 declared substandard. Similarly, 14,213 samples were checked through the mobile food testing laboratory.<\/div>\n

According to Wasif Saeed, Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, the province\u2019s first government-level Provincial Food Testing Laboratory and Center for Research has been formally inaugurated, and almost all operations of the authority have been shifted to a digital system.<\/div>\n

He further said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority will continue to intensify its efforts to ensure the supply of safe, quality, and healthy food to the public.<\/div>\n
