SUKKUR, Jan 01 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sukkur, Nadir Shahzad Khan on Thursday chaired a review meeting and performance based appreciation ceremony for the recent polio eradication campaign held from December 15 to 21, 2025. The meeting was attended by DHO Sukkur Dr Ali Gul Shah, ADC-II Bushra Mansoor, Assistant Commissioners, polio campaign officials, health department representatives, district administration, WHO, police, education department and other stakeholders.<\/div>\n

Addressing the meeting, DC Sukkur emphasized that polio eradication is a top priority for the Pakistan government and no negligence will be tolerated in fulfilling this national duty. He praised the field teams, supervisors and security personnel for their exemplary performance and professionalism during the campaign and congratulated the polio teams.<\/div>\n

The DC stressed that ensuring every child receives polio drops is a collective responsibility requiring effective teamwork, microplanning and strict monitoring. He highlighted that union councils with better performance serve as examples, while areas needing improvement demand greater effort in the next campaign.<\/div>\n

He noted the positive environmental sample from Muka Pumping Station is a serious challenge, though no local virus presence was confirmed. \u201cMore effective measures and hard work are needed in this area,\u201d he said. The DC directed that underperforming UCs see their UCMOs, in charges and some polio workers replaced with staff from other UCs, in consultation with the relevant Assistant Commissioner, to improve performance.<\/div>\n

He instructed polio officials to ensure UC wise data verification to identify real issues, as recent campaigns showed little variance in provided data, suggesting ground realities may not be fully reflected.<\/div>\n

At the event, the DC distributed appreciation certificates to outstanding polio workers, supervisors and officials, calling them national heroes working for children\u2019s safe future despite harsh weather and difficult conditions.<\/div>\n

Reiterating commitment to polio eradication, he said future campaigns will adopt more effective strategies, strict monitoring and a zero-tolerance policy to ensure no child misses polio drops. The meeting also included a farewell for polio workers whose contracts ended; the DC said they would perform excellently wherever posted and arrangements for their replacements are underway.<\/div>\n

The meeting was briefed on the campaign\u2019s overall performance, targets achieved, field activities and challenges faced. The polio officer detailed issues in some UCs, missed children, data verification and community cooperation, presenting a strategy to address these in future campaigns. The meeting expressed satisfaction with the overall polio drive performance.<\/div>\n
