Across 61 cases, courts convicted 89 individuals including 48 were handed the death penalty, 34 received life imprisonment and seven were ordered to pay diyat or compensation. The total fines imposed in these cases exceeded Rs 29.9 million.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 21 rape cases matters, 25 convicts faced punishment. One was sentenced to death, 18 were given life imprisonment, 4 received 14 years\u2019 rigorous imprisonment each and 2 were jailed for 10 years. Fines in these cases amounted to Rs 6.8 million.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The largest volume of convictions 245 which occurred in narcotics cases. Fines in these cases surpassed Rs 27.3 million. Among the sentences were 3 terms of 20 years\u2019 imprisonment with Rs 1.68 million fine each, 01 got 15-year imprisonment, 7 were convicted for 14-year , 26 ten-year and 192 nine-year imprisonment.
